Dear Bruce

Is there anyone there who actually makes a decision?  In every other aviation country in the world that I know of, a pilot at a non-tower airport can join directly on base, or on a final of any length.  The decision is purely decided on good airmanship and safety.

I have applied for a dispensation to be able to do this in Australia but I cannot get an answer.  Can you advise whether I can have this dispensation so I can join directly on base or on a shorter than 5 mile final when it is safer to do so?

I will look forward to your urgent reply.

Yours faithfully

Dick Smith
