Bass Strait/Flinders Island information needed

Are scheduled services operating under the charter category?

I have recently been contacted by a pilot who claimed that CASA has been turning a blind eye to scheduled services in the Bass Strait region being operated under the charter category – ie a lower regulated level of safety.

If anyone can provide any information on this please advise.

Many will remember that after the Seaview accident a major recommendation from the $20 million inquiry was for the safety regulator to resolve the issue between charter and scheduled services for aircraft of 9 passengers or less. This has not been done.
