USA can't cope with the boom in training

Turning students away

A number of days ago I was visited by a professional flight instructor from Seattle USA. He explained how the major flight schools in the USA simply cannot cope with the enormous influx of students – not only from the USA but from Japan, China, Europe, Indonesia and Africa.

He said because of the boom in the airline business worldwide, the USA flight training industry has expanded greatly and is making record profits.

I explained my frustration that Australia was not benefiting from this boom. He agreed that we should be benefiting – especially with our dollar being at such a low value.

We discussed the issue and agreed that Australia has the most extraordinary potential to become the leader in the world in flight training. For this to occur we need an internationally compliant airspace system, the lowest possible costs and a friendly and positive environment for flying.
