Airline safety rating

 Following a recommendation of the 1995 House of Representatives Standing Committee on Transport Communications and Infrastructure report, Plane Safe Inquiry Into Aviation Safety: The Commuter and General Aviation Sectors (by Parliamentarian and former Transport Minister, Mr Peter Morris), it was decided that an aviation safety rating brochure should be published.  This was duly done in May 1998.

 

However after I resigned as CASA Chairman, the brochures were pulped and are no longer available.  This was because some people in the bureaucracy did not believe that the public could understand that there are quite different levels of safety set by Government regulators depending on the number of people who are in the aircraft. 

 

Because of this I have made the text of the brochure available, and it can also be printed easily from the following link:
